Laptop Out On Repair for the third time

I need some advice. I'm starting to get concerned suddenly about my laptop. I use this for everything, and it's been amazing. Until it wasn't. A string of power outages at my house during some monsoons eventually caused it to stop powering on completely. I took it in and found out it only has 6 days left on the GSP (Geek Squad Protection). It was a 3 year protection plan. So just in time! or so I thought. They ship it out to the service center, and the main board is replaced. Takes about 2 weeks, and all things considering, that excellent time. However when we were inspecting it, I noticed the wireless card was not detecting at all. The Geek Squad Manager looked at it and noted a few other things wrong with it (LCD fading, keys not working, and of course the WiFi). So they send it back. This time takes a lot longer. Totally understandable. It came back last week, and upon powering it up, there was a big green line going down the side of the LCD, about an inch of complet...

3 weeks ago, I made a “rant” about Best Buy taking forever to contact me about my returned item. Backstory: Prior to that 3 weeks, 2 weeks before I returned something to bestbuy - item was insured and not even 1 year it got broken. So, returned it in store and made an insurance claim through geek squad. They said that they will ship it to the manufacturer and see if they can fix it. I will apparently just take about 2 weeks for it. And if not, I will get a store credit equal to what I paid it for. 2 weeks contacted them about the status…they said they are still waiting for the manufacturer’s update. So I said okay, just let me know asap! Now, it’s been an extra 3 weeks since that interaction. Question: Can I contact them again now and ask for the status? Weird question regarding employee accommodations!

I used two employee accommodations from the Learning Network a few days ago on an online order that I placed. The order was immediately canceled by the dot com system and I was not charged. However, the codes I used were rendered invalid when I tried placing the order again the next day. Whatever, I won't buy it. My question is, since the system picked up that I used my discount codes, will I still get taxed on my paycheck? The discount was a considerable amount so I was expecting a tax related deduction. Since I never spent my money though, will the tax still show up? Side question, any way I can get new codes since Best Buy themselves canceled my order? Having a hard time with an order - Customer Service

Hello. Here is some back story: I bought an Asus gaming laptop on October 19. For shipping, I had the option for two day or pick up in store a few days later and opted for the pick up. The item was delayed from Sat 10/22 to Tues 10/25. I spoke (chat support) with cust service and they gave me the UPS tracking number. It originated in CA and was going to WI. On 10/25, while monitoring the UPS track, there was an exception. The delivery address changed. I immediately chatted with Cust service and they told me it would still show up. The next time UPS updated, it was going to OREGON. I called and chatted (two plus hours) and they all insisted it was some kind of mistake but would make it - by the end of the day. By Thursday, it was in Portland. By Friday, it was delivered to the store in Oregon. Meanwhile, UPS told me the name of the person that made the request. Cust service kept telling me it was coming to WI and to wait for the email. They said that even though UPS said OR, they pr...

I'll start with my notorious one. But I had to do a pending tender for Kevin Green, yes the Football player who died 2 years ago. His return was a cash return. So I couldn't do the refund. Goodbye 1267

Got hired at Best Buy early 2019 as customer service and was one of the few that decided to switch to sales floor during the GREAT PURGE of 2020. I learned sales floor, back office, mobile, warehouse, and a little bit of Geek Squad to try and show my supervisors that I deserved a promotion. 5 TIMES I was overlooked for Full Time, each denial came with the most asinine excuses (my personal favorite was "You're TOO awkward for this job"). But each time I worked harder to prove that I deserved that promotion. The final straw for me was my GM, who should've retired last year, going back on his promise because I didn't perform well for 1 Month during the previous year. 6 months later and I'm finally able to say I got a new job where I'm respected by not just my coworkers but my boss as well. How does BB handle unclaimed pickup orders for online-only items?

I ordered a router for pickup at my local Best Buy which seemingly isn’t sold in Best Buy stores (can only be shipped to your home or for pickup at a store). However due to various reasons I’ve not been able to find time to pick it up and I’ll run out of pickup time soon. Time extension isn’t possible anymore too. In this situation, will the store put the item on the shelves (where the routers are) or send it back to their warehouse (from where online-only items are sent out) ? Asking because this router seemingly isn’t sold in stores. No Tracking Updates - Stuck on “Label Created”

I bough a Macbook Air through Best Buy, which sent me an email yesterday telling me the item would ship soon. This came after a previous email which stated, Item(s) Delayed. However, when I log onto the FedEx website, I see that there has been no movement at all. Should I be concerned? I placed the order on the 26th, with the expected delivery date being the 27th. However, per the delay, it was allegedly ready to be shipped on the 28th, and Best Buy estimated it would arrive between the 28th through the 31st. What worries me is the fact that the FedEx website does not show any updates, etc. Any tips as to what to do? the computer system is ass

Need help with TV warranty

So I have a 65 inch Sony X950H that I bought in June of 2021. I bought a five year geek squad warranty with it. At first it was fine but after having it a little more then a year the software has gotten really slow. It will freeze up randomly and not work and then start working again. I love everything about the picture quality but the software is making me lose my mind. I have already tried everything to resolve this. Resetting it, clearing the cache, etc. I’ve done it all. My roommate and I are planning to buy a small (5 cu ft) chest freezer. We're comfortable with setting the thing up ourselves, so we don't need professional installation. I just remembered that one day when I was working front lanes, this lady came to return or exchange an air filter because she wasn’t sure how it worked and claimed something was off. I tell her I’ll do the return/exchange but I recommend heading over to PAC to get someone to find her a good product. Best Buy lost my sale due to trying to force a $40 charge for data transfer. Is this the norm?

I'm not sure what kind of sales rep is willing to lose a sale over not letting me do my own data transfer to the pixel 7 pro, but that's the kind I got today. I was ready to do a trade in for the phone, and he goes and states that the only way for me to be able to do the data transfer from my trade-in is if he did it, and would charge me $40 (unless I had everything backed up online which is not the same). I told him that was a deal breaker for me, as I can do that myself and save him and myself time, and putting a cable following some steps is not worth $40 for me, I get for someone else it might be, but not when I've done it many times already. He insisted that was the only way, and then I just walked away from the sale. Business wise this makes absolutely no sense to me. Was it just a bad rep? Mobile, error Device validation request

Just started back after two years and seeing an error when trying to upgrade line to new 14 pro. Previously cust had ordered online and a wrong imei was involved and the phone was unable to work properly according to others over here. Is unopened Ink returnable?

Purchased some ink for my brother. I got the wrong kind. He took it back to his local store same day to return it. He had the order number with him along with all of my info. He was the authorized pick up person. the boxes were not opened at all (although may have sustained some damage from the pick up tags, I don’t know for sure on that, but definitely unopened) . Store refused return and told him it was against policy to return ANY ink. On the website it says OPEN ink is not accepted. In my 4 years at cust service desk I always returned unopened boxes in return period. Am I wrong or is the store where he picked them up wrong? I just need to give him some direction and don’t want to send him to another store if it truly shouldn’t be returned. He’s super anxious and I don’t go back to work until Monday to check with my local people. Magnolia service really bad

Has anyone noticed that Magnolia Home Theater is just awful now? 10 years ago I went in there to buy a new AV receiver and the sales people working were very knowledgable and friendly. Now you go into Magnolia and nobody is around, and when you do find someone they barely grunt three words to all of your questions. It's like they literally DON'T want to sell you anything and just wish you'd go away. I ask to get a demo of a surround sound mode of a receiver, and it's like I'm about to pull out somebody's molar without any anesthetic! Trade In Value Question - help

Hi, I went to Best Buy today to trade in my phone. I got $500 credit (receipt says $100 GC + $400 coupon) that I can apply for the new one. The rep then said that they have the phone I want that's an open box item. The discount was quite significant so I agreed to purchase the open box. But then when the rep tried to check out, he can't apply the trade-in credit towards the open box. He called his manager to try to manually override the system but he still couldn't do it. The manager then explained that the trade-in value can only be applied to a brand new phone, not an open box. Is this a correct information? Making a post to provide caution to all My Best Buy rewards members as my account has been hacked twice in the last 30 days and both times my rewards points have been cleared out fraudulently a thief purchasing Apple products in the East Coast (MD and NJ). Both times, the thief was able to call into phone support and have them change email address and get points issued while thief were in Best Buy stores and spend the rewards immediately. On the 2nd occurrence, my account has 2FA and security question, however, it doesn't matter as phone support will still make the changes and issue the reward, which allowed the thief to spend immediately. In this last occurrence, I just lost $1,120 in rewards banked and earned from my Best Buy credit card. Rocketfish TV Mount Bracket Off-center?

We have a new 65" Samsung TV from BestBuy. There is a slight obstruction where the power cord connects with the TV such that our full motion Rocketfish horizonal brackets would be a little off-center if we were to install it to the TV without spacers (like 1.5 inches or so off center). Does anyone know if there are issues with installing a Rocketfish bracket slightly off centered to the tv? Verizon Phone Return Issue

Issue: I purchased a phone at a physical best buy and financed through Verizon. I then returned the phone the next day to that same best buy. At which time, I was refunded taxes and fees and paid the 45$ restocking fee. No problems at this point. 10 days goes by and the phone is still on my Verizon account and I am still being billed for it. I call Verizon and after some round and round they tell me I need to call best buy. I call best buy and they refuse to do anything other than resend me a copy of the return receipt. I call Verizon again and after some more round and round they open a case and get the receipt information and telling it should be resolved within 7-10 days. That was 8 days ago and there is no change on my account so I call Verizon again. I think I’ve been scammed by Best Buy - what do I do?

I took my car in to Best Buy yesterday with a pair of speakers I wanted them to install in my front doors. I brought a pair of speakers, one for each door. When I got the car back, it sounded pretty good, but as time went on as I drove home, I thought the audio sounded slightly off, but I couldn’t put my finger on why. This morning, I set my fader to full front and then alternated the balance between full left and full right to isolate the individual front door speakers, and they sound noticeably different from one another. Total tech as an employee rant

Is anyone else annoyed that as employees we don’t get discounts on the deductibles when we have total tech? I bought a Logitech combo touch case for my iPad Pro 11 inch last year. That’s when I bought total tech & I redeemed the protection plan today. The standard 2 yr GSP protection plan for the case is $35….as an employee you will have a general idea of how much we get it for. The deductible I paid today was $29 & there was no discount on the deductible. Didn't receive full trade-in value for Pixel 7

Hello, Today I picked up my order for a Pixel 7 in-store and traded in my Pixel 6, which had a trade-in value of $480. After picking it up, I received a confirmation email for the pickup and a refund e-mail from PayPal (which I used to pay for the phone) for $115 or so. I think that makes sense since $115 was the total amount I paid for the phone since I also used BestBuy gift cards for the purchase. However, I expected to get a refund of $480 + taxes. My fiance bought me a 1TB Seagate Xbox Series X Expansion drive, and I needed the 1TB SSD to upgrade my PS5 (in other words she grabbed the wrong one). Dying Light 2 was on sale for half off so I figured I’d buy a copy. I paid an extra 6 bucks for “deliver tomorrow” option because why not. Phone Trade-In Identification

As a Canadian close to the border, I pre-ordered a Pixel 7 at the closest border store in WA state and opted to also trade in my Pixel 6 because the TIV was good. I've seen reports now that there's no issue using a Canadian ID to pick up the phone, but to do the trade in they require a state issued or US ID. Question is, can I use my Nexus which is issued by the DHS as ID for trade in? Apparently, Canadian passport or driver's license is not valid. I also tried calling the store and got conflicting information. As far as I know the refresh day for PTO changed from your full time hire date to your official hire date. But there was a important update was made but no one was informed months, weeks or days before that update was made.
