Military Leave of Absence Question

I worked for Best Buy from 2017-2019 and joined the Navy. I put in a military leave of absence request and it was accepted and everything has been great since. I now have less than a year left and am trying to get employment verification to provide to the Navy. That is a step you need to get out. It's either that or a resume and job application. Long story short getting that from Best Buy HR is a nightmare. Can't get a hold of my case worker but that is a story for another time... Has anyone actually gotten out and received their job back in here? I worked in Tennessee and now I live in Virginia. There are multiple stores near me and I would like my full-time position back at one of those stores while I go to school. Does anyone know if this is possible? Am I entitled to that? I recently joined the leadership team at a new store. One of my new employees made me aware of a set of employees filling out surveys for themselves. What is Best Buys official policy on this? Customer Support is Incredibly Painful

Holy cow. All I needed to figure out is how to get my laptop repaired under warranty at my local Best Buy. I’ve been on the chat for the past hour and the guy just kept saying “I understand how upsetting it can be when we face such issues”. I was put on hold and transferred multiple times to be told to schedule an appointment at the store and they’ll let me know when I arrive. My very new laptop gave me an imminent hard drive fail blue screen. I scanned the QR code, it says it’s under warranty, and showed to take it to any nearby Best Buy. I can’t even get in touch with anyone at the local store. The automated machine on the phone is absolutely terrible. I don’t know how many times I had to repeat “laptop” while it kept asking if the television is larger than 40 inches. Issues w/ Outlet Store inventory on website?

Since I've discovered the magic of the local Best Buy outlet store (Farmers Branch, TX), I've saved a fortune on like-new appliances. However, lately the Best Buy website has not let me search available stock of the outlet store (which was tricky to begin with) and either redirects me to an outlet in Minnesota or to the regular Best Buy in Farmers Branch with a message of "Due to a permanent closure, your store has been changed to:" message. However, the Best Buy website still lists the Farmers Branch website as open with the current hours, etc. Is BB really closing this location, are they going the route of other large retailer outlets where you have to go in-person to see current stock, or is the BB website currently just hosed up? I hope it's just a website issue because I love the outlet and given that it's a 2 hour (one-way) pilgrimage from East Texas it really helps to at least get an idea of what's available online before going, even though I end ...

Fellow advisors and product flow: How much of your team works on a day to day basis?

Just curious. We're a "medium sized" Best Buy where I'm at, and in total we have eight advisors, 5 full time, 3 part time, 5 front end people, and 4 product flow members. On a day to day basis, we have Only 3 people working on the floor and 1 or 2 front end, as well as only 1 warehouse associate. Yep. 1. Unless it's truck or a Saturday. Makes the work we already have to do so much harder. For example, yesterday, I was the only Advisor available that knows mobile (there are two others), and at one point I was helping three people at one time, while dealing with activation issues, troubleshooting, screen installs, ordering, etc. And my leaders had the audacity to tell me to hurry up because there were more clients in the queue. Verizon VPL being taken advantage of.

So. I was a Verizon VPL, but recently went part time because my S/O went full time and we have a child. 3 weeks go by from me going part time and they still have me scheduled in verizon, aswell as that’s still my job code. Which sucks because I get no benefits and all negatives. Can’t activate any other carrier and I get treated as if I’m still verizon. Today I was told that I needed to laserline and clean a whole aisle in the middle of rush hour for our store. Which sucks because I’m very well at selling TT and bestbuy cards. Especially in mobile which is pretty hard for BB CREDIT CARDS. Manager said I did it wrong and it was completely FEd up. He states he told me to reset the planograms. Which he didn’t. [Customer] Can a friend bring their device in for Geek Squad repair under my TotalTech membership?

Or, in more XY Problem fashion: what information or documentation is required of them to drop off/pick up their device? Ideally he'd just walk in, give my phone number when prompted and then pick up the device, but would we run into problems with credit card info not matching the account info or needing ID for pickup? Just got chewed out over the phone by a Geek Squad Auto Installer for scheduling a dash cam install

Context: I have a 2022 Ford Lightning. The dash cam I'm installing is a Viofo A129 Pro Duo. I selected a hard wire installation, but I purchased some additional equipment to make the install easier for a tech and a cleaner install. I purchased two micro fuse taps, the hard wire kit and I know which fuses are hot or accessory mode. Now, on top of all this, I actually have something called a Dongar Power Adapter. This is actually a convenient adapter that plugs directly into the plug for the mirror and allows you to connect a USB cable for power without splicing any wires. The only reason I would prefer a pure hard-wire install is due to parking mode. When using the Dongar, the dash cam powers off when the truck is turned off, and parking mode won't work. The dash cam has front and rear cameras. The rear camera is the one I want them to install, because frankly, pulling off pieces of interior to shimmy wire from the rear window to the dash cam itself is something I don't ...

BB iOS App Logout Bug

Why is it taking so long to fix this?? The app has been a mess for a while now but this bug is affecting job performance. It seems to center around the ESL flash. It’ll log you out about ever other to every third time if you try to find something in the store. Then you have to log back into the app, then input your employee number, then log back in with your BB credentials. All while the customer is waiting beside you for help. Needing a nice, professional way of telling people “that’s not my job”

So for any of my fellow sales floor people (especially mobile) how do you deal with people that come in and ask for things that are NOT our job? Example: elderly people come in and ask us all the time “I forgot my Facebook password, can you help me reset?” “My Fitbit doesn’t have the right time, can you fix it for me?” And yes, I know we have service fees for these things but people lose their shit when they get told they have to pay for a service. Likelihood of getting my product?

I ordered something for in store pick up last week, it’s supposed to ready for pick up today but it still says “preparing for pick up”. According to support, it’s coming from store ID #87 to be delivered to the flagship store (Richfield), it left that 87 store yesterday. I got fired today

Well, I got fired from the distribution center today over FALSE allegations. Someone said I was saying “racist and homophobic” things in the workplace. It was all heresy. The dude who reported me is known as being a pathological liar who literally nobody in our building likes but ER took his word for it. I put in almost 4 years at this company. I went through hell and back with this company and this is how they do me. Dirty. I don’t trust HR with best buy and I never trusted most of my managers. The bigger the corporate ass kissing you do, the more likely you are to get promoted. Corporate needs to financially audit some of these stores

These GMs are making quite a bit of money, some getting bonuses larger that the yearly salary of the majority of store employees. Stores look like crap. Opening with 3 sales people and at times no Geek Squad. Well, lost me as a customer

So I Pre-ordered the S23 Ultra. Comes with $100 digital gift card. Picked up the phone on 18th. On the order page, it needs me to confirm my email for the gift card. I click the "send activation email". Never comes. I check spam, junk, etc. Nothing. (Been trying that for over a week, as it's always told me to confirm my email ever since I ordered it). I chat with customer service via chat. They tell me I need to call. Ok. I call. They look into it and tell me I'll have it within 14 days. I ask why so long and no answer. A few hours later, get an email that's $10 reward for my purchase. So it'll take 14 days to give me a gift card but 3 hours to give me $10? Doesnt seem right. Geek Squad Protection on Casio Piano

I purchased 4yr geek squad standard protection on a Casio piano keyboard I got my daughter for xmas. Today, my son flooded the upstairs bathroom and water leaked through to the room downstairs and the piano took on so much water. I didn't try to turn it on or anything, I put it next to the dehumidifier and will leave it like that for a while so it dries out. But I think it's probably ruined. Tired, Overworked, and Underpaid

I don’t know if this is common in other Best Buy locations, but my location has been making me work Front End, Store Pickup, and Front Door Host all within the same shifts for the past month. The amount of work is, to put it plainly, overwhelming. There have been several cases where my ability to do one job is compromised by needing to do another. Is this even technically allowed? Avoid Fairstone Financial

I just want to share my experience and information to those who plan on getting a loan from fairstone financial through bestbuy. I purchased a tv and got a no interest 3 month loan which I paid off weeks prior to the end date. I checked my balance before the end and it showed I owed 10 cents ( I paid the exact amount, not sure where this came from.) I got an email on the last day of the loan giving a statement balance that I could not for the life of me, access online. Once I signed in they would send me a verification code to my email to submit for sign in. After Multiple attempts and re-sign in attempts, I never received a code. I tried calling several listed phone numbers on their site and none of them worked! Luckily there is an office in Vancouver, so I went down and asked for my balance of my account, which was 0. Would BestBuy haul away a large rear projected tv?

Back in the early 2000s, I bought a 48 inch rear projected tv. These were back in the day when they were on wheels and could be pushed into rooms. I want to replace it with a newer tv so I can connect hdmi devices to it and use various streaming services. My order was auto-canceled

I ordered a gaming laptop that was on sale with a 3 year plan. I checked on the order today and found out that it was automatically canceled. Why would my order automatically be canceled? the card was valid (best buy in store card), the address was the same as when i last placed an order, and when i placed the order, it went through perfectly. Hello, I’ve been working at Best Buy for about 4 months and have yet to hit membership numbers. I’ve always been like 1-2 cards away and like 7-8 total techs away. Do any of y’all have any suggestions for pitches that work a good amount of the time. My card pitch goes like “we’re you putting this on the Best Buy card?” Answer is usually no or I don’t know have one and that’s when I follow with “well, we are doing 10% back with that card meaning you are looking at X amount back that you can spend next time you shop with us”. Goodbye ETK and all access to everything?

So it seems ETK is being removed from registers so now you cannot clock out on them, or access any apps that may help with customer issues. I cannot tell if this is a new movement, but my manger said it’s not a bug, a feature, we have all of those non registers for a whole store to share, all in the front, so if ya in the back, oh well. Secondly Workday seems very unneeded, it literally upheaved all forms and shortcuts that ETK managed properly. I cannot find Geek Squad forms to save my life, same as the team. They buried looks up’s for client services to help with antivirus, it’s just crumbling, like what the heck?! Was I Misinformed With How ADH Works?

So I tried buying three computers from Best buy and they all ended up crapping out. Overheating, not working out of box etc... Fourth computer manager gave me a 2 yr protection plan for free. Couple months after I buy a work laptop. Get told it's under the plan. Of it breaks I'll get a replacement or they can fix it, or I can refund it, my choice. Fast forward. Work Laptop stops charging and won't turn on. Don't know if cable, so go to Best buy to buy one and test. Get told I Can use the display chargers. Thing doesn't work. Bring it to CS and they tell me if I bring the cord back with the laptop, and the receipt they printed out, they would give me a gift card as they no longer held the item in stock, and since it was a work laptop and I needed it asap, they would give me a gift card for I store credit towards my next one as it would take 6-8 weeks to get it fixed. Fast forward to today. Friend is letting me use their computer in meantime. Go to return laptop. G...

Fuck you Best Buy

This is just a rant. I am just blowing steam out my ears right now and just need to get this off my chest. I truly want to strangle someone. My phone broke literally on my last day of my old job, before moving out of state. I wanted to wait for my first paycheck before purchasing a thousand dollar phone. Finally after three weeks of broken screen, not seeing 2 cms of my screen on the right, black lines, green lines on black background, different letters clicking on keyboard that isn't what you intended, broken brightness, broken screen assist ect, I walk into t mobile to purchase my new phone, only to find out im not the authorized user (no problem, I know i'm one of the lucky ones, super lucky my mom still handles that, one bill i don't have to think about.) I walk out with no phone. My mom makes me an authorized user, no problem I go back to the t mobile store only to find out their system is down and I have to order it online anyways for the GB size I want. I walk out ...

Retro Best Buy car audio section car display (circa 2002-2005)

For the past few years I have had this memory in my head from when I was a young child walking inside of Best Buy. I remember messing around in the car audio section and there was a car inside of the building filled with different radios and sub setups. This wasn’t an actual car, more of a display piece but I remember you could get inside of it and mess around with the audio equipment. I am pretty sure it was yellow. Does anyone else remember something like this in their local Best Buy? Would have been at least 18-20 years ago. Or maybe I am just crazy. I can not find any photos of this display anywhere on the internet. I believe this was taken out of my local location around 2004 and I have not seen it since. I hate Sam's Club and Cost Co member price matching

I hate having to price match those places because it either ends up as 1: They aren't a member and argue that we should match it anyways Or 2: The model number doesn't match our product as, I'm told, Sam's Club and Costco get "special models" of products like laptops and TVs that have a slight difference to a regular retail store's models. Then they start arguing with us. JUST GO TO SAM'S CLUB OR COSTCO AND BUY THE PRODUCT YOU WANT! ESPECIALLY IF YOU COME TO ME AND SHOW ME A PICTURE YOU TOOK OF THE PRICE INSIDE OF THAT STORE! Applied for job at Best Buy

I’m a senior in high school and I’m applying to Best Buy as my first job because I’ve heard they’re pretty flexible. As soon as I hit submit and I went back to check on my application, the website listed my application as “no longer under application”. This is my first time applying for a job so I’m not sure if I screwed up or something. Two week notice?

I’m a Verizon VPL at my store and know I’ll be leaving in less than a month. Part of me wants to give my store/leadership more notice so they have time to hire someone and so I’m not screwing them over, but the other part is scared they’ll just kick me off the schedule and say sucks to suck , and I need to pay my bills. I am Verizon VPL at my store and i was written up for something an irate customer told a manager on their way out. they said that I had made comments about not working for Best Buy, that I work for Verizon, and that I don’t know graphics cards. SOS Activation Issues?

Seasoned mobile associate here but I’m stumped. Has anyone done an activation for the Pro Maxes & received an SOS issue? I activated one on att. Old phone immediately displayed SOS but new phone did as well. I followed all the proper steps to power on the new phone and SOS still showed. New iPhone showed in the cellular section that I could turn the line on & off as well too. Everything reflected properly in Core Blue. Called Retail Support & att tech support & they said that it was a known issue but nothing done. looking for suggestions on failed ESLs

Sometimes there aren't many to go through, sometimes there's over 30 and that's a huge chunk of time to spend on a scavenger hunt that isn't very fun. Then you spend more time determining if it's the tag listed, and waiting for it to repair once or twice at least if it is. So many of mine are missing, which I presume means a duplicate was created at some point and the original is MIA. Am I doing it wrong?!
